Shellac Flakes |
| Shellac is a natural resin secreted by the lac bug. When dissolved in alcohol, shellac is used as a thin,
quick-drying finish that complements wood. Shellac has been used on the finest furniture for centuries. It is also used as a primer coat
for other finishes.
Each resealable bag contains a desiccant to help remove ambient moisture from the bag and preserve shelf life.

100% Pure Anhydrous Denatured Shellac Solvent |
Water-free (anhydrous) denatured ethanol alcohol is the best shellac solvent around.
Water retards the shellac's ability to dry, so you want it out of your solvent! Unlike
other shellac solvents on the market Brooklyn Tool and Craft Alcohol is pure ethanol
with just a tiny amount of denaturant (1/2%) so that it complies with the law.
When we were testing this solvent against other premium shellac solvents that
typically also contain amounts of methanol or isopropyl alcohol and are not all
ethanol we assumed that there would be little difference in performance. Much to
our surprise we found that shellac dissolved in the pure ethanol seemed to dry faster,
harder, and with a higher sheen. We are not sure why but we do know that in the limited
literature available on shellac pure ethenol is recommended over other solvents.
Made in the USA.
